Tilt an Image in Photoshop with Free Transform
In this quick guide, you’ll learn how to tilt (rotate) any image or layer in Photoshop using Free Transform. This method is fast, precise, and non-destructive when used on separate layers or smart objects.

Step-by-step instructions

Open and select the layer
File → Open to load your image
In the Layers panel, select the layer you want to tilt (click the lock on Background to unlock if needed)

Activate Free Transform
Edit → Free Transform
Shortcut: Ctrl+T (Windows) / Cmd+T (Mac)

Tilt or rotate the image
Move the cursor just outside a corner handle until the rotate icon appears, then drag to tilt
Hold Shift to snap rotation in 15° increments
Optional: Enter an exact angle in the Options bar’s rotation field

Commit or cancel the transform
Press Enter/Return or click the checkmark to confirm
Press Esc to cancel if needed
