Need to fix orientation or turn a photo for a new layout? This quick tutorial shows you how to rotate an image in Photoshop using built-in Image Rotation commands. Use the presets or input a custom angle and then save your changes.

Step-by-step instructions

Open your image

  • Go to File → Open…, select your image, and click Open.

Rotate via Image Rotation

  • Go to Image → Image Rotation.

  • Choose 90° Clockwise, 90° Counter Clockwise, or 180° to apply an instant rotation.

  • For a custom angle, go to Image → Image Rotation → Arbitrary….

  • Enter the Angle and choose the Direction (CW or CCW), then click OK.

Save the rotated image

  • Go to File → Save to update the file.

  • Or go to File → Save As… to save a new copy.
