Whiten Teeth in Photoshop (Fast, Natural Method)
In this tutorial, you’ll whiten teeth quickly and naturally using a Hue/Saturation adjustment in Photoshop. You’ll target only the yellow tones, then mask the effect so it applies just to the teeth. Finally, you’ll fine‑tune saturation and lightness for a clean, realistic result.

Step-by-step instructions
Create a Hue/Saturation adjustment and target yellows
Layer → New Adjustment Layer → Hue/Saturation…
In Properties, change the channel dropdown from Master to Yellows.
Click the targeted adjustment eyedropper and sample the most yellow area of the teeth.
Visualize and refine the yellow range
Temporarily set Hue to +100 and Saturation to +100 to clearly see what’s being targeted.
Drag the left color range handles under the gradient to include most of the teeth; it’s okay if some skin is included (you’ll mask it later).
Set your whitening values
Reset Hue to 0 and Saturation to 0.
Lower Saturation to remove yellowing (for example, −40 to −80 depending on the photo).
Increase Lightness slightly (for example, +5 to +20) until the teeth look bright but natural.
Mask the effect to the teeth only
Click the Hue/Saturation layer’s mask thumbnail.
Press Ctrl/Cmd+I to invert the mask to black (hide the effect).
Set Foreground to white and Background to black (press D then X if needed).
Select the Brush Tool (B), set Hardness to 0%, adjust Size, and paint white over the teeth to reveal the effect.
Review and fine‑tune
Toggle the adjustment layer visibility to compare before/after.
If the effect spills onto gums/skin, paint black on the mask to hide it.
Adjust Saturation/Lightness in Properties until the result looks natural.
