Create a Contact Sheet in Photoshop (Contact Sheet II)

Photoshop’s Contact Sheet II automatically arranges images into a grid for quick previews or client proofs. You’ll point Photoshop to a folder, configure page settings and thumbnail layout, and export the finished contact sheet.

Prepare your images

  • Place all photos you want on the contact sheet into a single folder.

Open Contact Sheet II

  • Launch Photoshop.

  • Go to File → Automate → Contact Sheet II.

Choose the source images

  • In the Contact Sheet II dialog, under Source Images, set Use to Folder.

  • Click Choose… and navigate to your images folder, then click Choose/OK.

Set document options

  • Under Document, set Width, Height, and Resolution for your page.

  • Choose Color Mode (e.g., RGB/CMYK), Bit Depth, and a Color Profile as needed.

Lay out the thumbnails

  • Under Thumbnails, choose the Place order (Across First or Down First).

  • Set the desired number of Columns and Rows.

  • Enable Use Auto-Spacing to evenly space thumbnails.

Generate and save

  • Click OK and wait while Photoshop opens each image and builds the contact sheet.

  • Go to File → Save As or File → Export → Export As to save your contact sheet.
