Use Generative Expand to Extend Images in Photoshop (Beta)
Generative Expand simplifies extending an image beyond its original bounds. You’ll use the Crop Tool to enlarge the canvas, optionally add a text prompt, and generate realistic content to fill the new space.

Step-by-step instructions
Open your image in Photoshop (beta)
Install or update Photoshop (beta) from Creative Cloud.
Open the image you want to extend.
Set the new size with the Crop Tool
Select the Crop Tool (C).
Drag the crop handles outward to your desired composition.
Optionally choose an aspect ratio preset from the task bar, then tweak the size.
Generate the expanded content
Click the Generative Expand button in the task bar or Options bar.
Optionally enter a prompt describing what to add; leave empty to match the existing scene.
Click Generate and wait for Photoshop to fill the extended canvas. Review and choose from variations if available.
Refine and repeat if needed
Adjust the crop again to fine‑tune framing.
Click Generate again to produce a new expansion until you’re satisfied.
Save your result (File → Save or File → Export → Export As).
