Step-by-step instructions
Duplicate while repositioning
Select the Move Tool (V)
Hold Option to enable drag-copy
Click and drag the object to create and move a duplicate
Release to drop the copy in place
Rename the duplicate layer if needed
Duplicate via Layer menu
Select the layer in Layers
Layer → Duplicate Layer…
Enter a Name (optional)
Pick a destination Document (current or another open file)
Click OK
Duplicate via right‑click or panel menu

Adjust name and destination in the dialog
