Distort and blend an image in Photoshop (Skew, Warp, Blend Modes)
In this quick tutorial, you’ll distort an image to match another using Photoshop’s Skew and Warp transforms. You’ll then choose a blending mode and soften the edges for a clean blend. Follow along to place the image, transform it accurately, and finish with simple edge clean‑up.

Step-by-step instructions
Place and resize your image
Go to File → Place Embedded (or Place Linked) and select your image.
Click Place, then drag corner handles to scale as needed (hold Shift to constrain).
Press Enter/Return to commit the placement.
Skew the image to align it
Select the placed layer in the Layers panel.
Go to Edit → Free Transform (Ctrl+T / Cmd+T).
Right‑click inside the transform box and choose Skew.
Drag side/corner handles to position the image vertically and horizontally to roughly match the target.
Warp to match the perspective precisely
With Free Transform still active, right‑click and choose Warp.
Drag the mesh points/handles to align edges and contours with the underlying image.
Click the checkmark in the options bar or press Enter/Return to apply.
Choose a blending mode
In the Layers panel, open the blend mode dropdown (default: Normal).
Hover the list and use the Up/Down arrow keys to preview modes quickly.
Select the mode that blends best (try Multiply, Overlay, Soft Light, etc.).
Refine edges with a soft Eraser
Select the Eraser Tool (E) and choose a Soft Round brush.
Set Hardness to 0% and reduce Opacity to about 20–40% for smooth fades.
Gently erase along the edges to blend the top image into the background.
