How to Create Bleed in Photoshop
This tutorial adds bleed to your Photoshop document in a few steps. You’ll create guides from your artwork bounds, increase the canvas to add bleed, and scale the image so it reaches the outer edge for safe trimming.

Step-by-step instructions
Place your artwork
Go to File → Place Embedded, choose your image, and click Place (or drag and drop into Photoshop).
Press Enter to confirm placement.
Create guides from the layer bounds
With the image layer selected, go to View → Guides → New Guide from Shape (or New Guide from Layer).
Confirm guides appear around the current artwork area.
Expand the canvas to add bleed
Go to Image → Canvas Size.
Change units to Millimeters and check Relative.
Enter Width: 10 mm and Height: 10 mm → OK (adds 5 mm bleed on each side).
Extend the artwork to the bleed
Select the image layer and press Ctrl+T (Cmd+T) for Free Transform.
Scale proportionally to reach the outer canvas edges (hold Shift if needed).
Press Enter to apply the transform.
