How to Create a Gradient on Photoshop

Step-by-step instructions

Access the Gradient Tool
In the toolbar, click and hold the Paint Bucket Tool.
Select Gradient Tool (G) from the flyout.

Configure the gradient
In the Options bar, choose a type: Linear, Radial, Angle, Reflected, or Diamond (use Linear to start).
Click the gradient preview to open the Gradient Picker and select a preset you like.

Draw the gradient
Click-drag on the canvas to set the gradient’s direction and length.
