Batch Edit Photos in Photoshop with Image Processor and Actions

This guide shows you how to batch edit many photos at once by combining the Image Processor with a Photoshop Action. You’ll pick a folder, set output size and format, choose an action, and run everything hands‑free. You’ll also learn how to disable Action “Stop” steps so you don’t need to click Continue each image.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Prepare your Action to run unattended (optional)

  • Open any photo, then go to Window → Actions.

  • Expand your Action set and locate the Action you’ll use.

  • Find any “Stop” steps and uncheck their boxes so the batch won’t pause.

  • Close the image without saving if it was only for accessing Actions.

2

Launch Image Processor for batch editing

  • Go to File → Scripts → Image Processor.

  • In Section 1, click Select Folder and choose the source folder of photos.

  • In Section 2, check Save in Same Location (or choose a custom folder).

3

Set output format, size, and Action

  • In Section 3, check Save as JPEG and set Quality as desired.

  • Check Resize to Fit and enter Longest Side = 1500 px (or your preferred size).

  • In Section 4, check Run Action, choose the Action Set, then choose the specific Action (e.g., “York”).

4

Run and verify results

  • Click Run. Photoshop will open each file, apply the Action, resize, and save.

  • When complete, open the new JPEG folder created within your source folder.

  • Open a processed image to confirm the filter and resize were applied.
