Create a Gradient Background in Photoshop
Gradients are a quick way to create clean, modern backgrounds in Photoshop. You’ll pick the Gradient Tool, choose or customize a preset, select a style, and apply it by dragging from a start to an end point. Direction and distance of your drag change the look instantly.

Step-by-step instructions
Create a new document
Go to File → New.
Set your Width, Height, Resolution, and Background (e.g., White).
Click Create.
Select the Gradient Tool
In the Tools panel, click and hold the Paint Bucket if needed, then choose the Gradient Tool (G).
In the options bar, click the gradient preview to open the Gradient Editor.
Choose or customize your gradient
Select a preset from the list, or edit one by clicking color stops to set custom colors.
Optionally rename and click New to save your custom gradient.
Click OK to close the Gradient Editor.
Pick a gradient style
In the options bar, choose a type: Linear, Radial, Angle, Reflected, or Diamond.
Ensure Mode is Normal and Opacity 100% for a standard fill (adjust as desired).
Apply the gradient
Click and drag across the canvas from a start to an end point; release to apply the gradient.
Undo (Ctrl/Cmd+Z) and try different directions and lengths to change the effect.
