Remove window glare and reflections with Camera Raw’s Reflections tool

Photos shot through glass often suffer from reflections and washed-out glare. With Camera Raw’s Reflections feature (in Technology Previews), you can separate and remove reflections from RAW images, then touch up any residual highlights with Generative Remove.

Step-by-step instructions

Enable Camera Raw Technology Previews

  • Open Photoshop, then go to Filter → Camera Raw Filter

  • Click the gear icon (Preferences) → Technology Previews

  • Enable “New AI features in Settings panel” (or similar wording) and click OK

  • Restart Photoshop for the change to take effect

Open your RAW photo in Camera Raw

  • Go to File → Open… and select one or more RAW files (e.g., .CR3, .NEF)

  • The images open in Adobe Camera Raw

Remove reflections using the Remove tool

  • Select the Remove tool in Camera Raw

  • Enable the Reflections option; set the Reflections strength to 100 to start

  • Review before/after; adjust the Reflections slider toward 0 for less removal or toward −100 to emphasize only reflections (diagnostic view)

  • Fine-tune overall exposure/contrast as needed after reflection cleanup

Fix residual specular highlights

  • With the Remove tool, switch to Generative Remove (if available)

  • Paint over remaining bright streaks or hotspots and click Remove

  • Repeat on stubborn areas until clean

Save or open into Photoshop

  • Click Open (or Open Object) to continue editing in Photoshop, or click Done to save settings back to the RAW file

  • Export as needed from Camera Raw or Photoshop

Notes and limitations

  • Currently optimized for flat plate glass scenes; not ideal for eyeglasses or complex curved surfaces

  • Works on RAW images at the time of release; support for JPEG/PNG and Lightroom is in progress per Adobe
