Edit Text in Photoshop

This tutorial shows how to quickly update text in a Photoshop document. You’ll select the Type Tool, edit the content, adjust formatting in the options bar, and use transform controls for additional adjustments. Then you’ll commit your changes cleanly.

Step-by-step instructions

Select the Type Tool

  • In the left toolbar, choose the Horizontal Type Tool (T).

  • Click inside the text box to place the cursor.

Edit your text

  • Type to change the content.

  • Drag to select text if you want to replace or format a portion.

Adjust formatting

  • Use the top options bar to change Font, Size, and Alignment.

  • Preview the changes as you adjust.

Use transform for advanced adjustments

  • Press Ctrl+T (Windows) or Command+T (Mac) to bring up transform controls.

  • Scale, rotate, or reposition the text as needed.

Commit the changes

  • Click the checkmark (tick) in the options bar to apply your edits.
