Change the Color of an Object in Photoshop (Quick Method)
You can change an object’s color convincingly in just a few steps by combining a precise selection with adjustment layers. This method keeps lighting and texture intact while swapping hues. Follow along to select the object, mask it, apply a Solid Color fill, and fine-tune the result.

Step-by-step instructions
Select the object
Choose the Object Selection Tool (W).
Drag over the object to auto-select it.
Hold Shift and drag to add areas; hold Alt/Option and drag to subtract.
Group and mask the selection
In the Layers panel, click Create New Group (folder icon).
With the selection active, click Add Layer Mask to mask the group to the object.
Add a Solid Color fill
Click Create New Fill or Adjustment Layer → Solid Color.
Pick your target color (e.g., yellow) and click OK.
Add Brightness/Contrast
Click Create New Fill or Adjustment Layer → Brightness/Contrast.
Leave the sliders for now; you’ll tweak them later.
Reorder and set blending
Drag the Color Fill layer above the Brightness/Contrast layer within the group.
Select the Color Fill layer and set the blending mode to Color.
Fine-tune the look
Double-click the Brightness/Contrast layer icon to open its properties.
Adjust Brightness and Contrast to taste (e.g., lower Brightness for richer color and slightly reduce Contrast).
