Blur a Face in Photoshop with Gaussian Blur

Step-by-step instructions

Select the face

  • Choose the Selection Brush Tool and set Mode to Add.

  • Set Opacity to 100% and Hardness to about 25%.

  • Adjust brush size and paint over the face to select it.

  • Hold Alt/Option to temporarily subtract if you over-select.

Apply Gaussian Blur

  • Go to Filter → Blur → Gaussian Blur.

  • Adjust Radius until the face is sufficiently blurred for your needs.

  • Click OK to apply the blur.

  • Press Ctrl/Cmd+D to deselect.
